Isaac Yonemoto, a PhD scientist in chemistry and biophysics, is trying to raise money to complete work on a promising cancer fighting compound called 9DS in an initiative called Project Marilyn.
Project Marilyn is a scientific initiative to produce the anticancer compound 9DS. Research on 9DS was halted in 2010 when the principal investigator left academic research; it was at an early preclinical stage with promising results. This is a nonprofit effort to crowdfund a project to bring 9DS and several variants through preclinical trials. Unlike most pharmaceutical research, the results will not be patented and released to the public domain, and the biological(DNA) code that will be extensively used for Project Marilyn will be released as “opensource”materials, meaning that anyone can use it without copyright restrictions or the need to licence it.
